Bernadette Anlage Devery

Bernadette Anlage Devery, born September 13, 1934, passed away peacefully on april 8, 2026, in Mobile, AL leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Bernadette is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Margaret Anlage, her loving husband, William "Bill" Devery, her siblings, Benny, Harry, Peggy, Marie, Betsy and Evelyn, 2 sons, Billy and Phillip Devery.

She is survived by her 4 children, Loretta (Tom) Hackman, Fred (Gwen) Devery, Eddie Devery, Larry Devery, grandchildren, Ross Devery, Michael Devery, Michelle Devery, Emily Hackman (Jacob) Rodriguez, Dominic (Allison) Hackman, great grandchildren, Elliott Devery, Reese Rodriguez, Denver Hackman, nieces, nephews, Joe (Nancy) Anlage, other relatives, including her Holy Family home community. 

Bernadette lived through decades of change, growth, and history, carrying with her a quiet strength and resilience that defined her journey. She experienced life in her own way- steadfast, enduring, and uniquely her own. Though her path may not have always been easy, it was undeniably her story, shaped by her choices, her circumstances, and the times she lived in. 

She is remembered as a woman who was part of a larger family story- one woven with complexity, distance, and moments of connection. Her life touched many, whether closely or from afar, and her passing marks the closing of a chapter that cannot be rewritten. 

Bernadette leaves behind family members who will carry forward their own memories of her, each shaped by personal experiences and reflections. In this time of loss, there is space for both grief and contemplation- for acknowledging what was, what was not, and everything in between. 

As we say goodbye, we honor the simple truth of her life, she was here, she lived, and she leaves behind a legacy that, in its own way, remains. May she rest in peace.

A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11:00am from Holy Family Catholic Church, burial will follow in The Catholic Cemetery.
