Bobbie Sue Barfield, affectionately known as “Papa Sue” passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, January 6, 2025.
She was married to Lowell Barfield for almost 36 years at the time of his passing. Their bond was a source of strength and love throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband; her bonus son, Jon David Barfield; her parents, A.R. and Irene Blalock: her siblings, Charlotte Thomas, Billy Joe Blalock, Stevie Blalock, Karen Hale Thomas, and Mark Allen Blalock.
As a born-again Christian, Papa Sue awaits in heaven her bonus family, daughters, D’Lynn and Beni Barfield; grandchildren, Melodie (Tommy) Stone, Galen Seddick, Jessica (Justin) Childress, Brielyn (Kayla) Barfield; her siblings, Randy (Anita) Blalock, Debbie (Geo) Flores, Terri Austin; multiple great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her adoring church family.
Papa Sue found joy in cooking, canning, hunting, fishing and creating beautiful stained-glass art. Her love for her family was evident in every aspect of life, and she cherished the time spent with them above all else. She was a loving caregiver, always putting the needs of others above her own.
Papa Sue will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to family, and the joy she brought to everyone that was fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will live on in the lives that she touched and the love that she shared.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family will notify everyone when those arrangements are made.
