Byron "Keith" Johnson, a resident of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022. He was 63 years old.
Keith spent his life on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. He loved the peace of the water, and he shared that love with others around him. He spent countless mornings on the bow of his oyster boat recording sunrises so others could see. Keith knew a lot about building and molding things. He liked to work with wood and loved to make detailed models of his boats. He had a clear vision in his mind of what the result would be, and just as Keith had a vision of the boat inside the lumber, the Lord had a vision for Keith. Twelve years ago, Keith gave his life to Christ. “Like clay in the hands of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel” Jeremiah 18:6. Only until Keith let God have his way, did his molding begin. “He saved us, not because of righteousness, things we have done, but because of his mercy.” Titus 3:5 For the last 12 years, Keith shared the miraculous love of the Lord with all who listened and lived his life for him.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Christine and James "Jimmy" Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his four sons, Jesse James (Kira) Johnson, Christian Johnson, Adam Johnson, and Vincent Alvarez; one precious granddaughter, Rylee Jean Johnson; brothers, George "Doug" (Cindy) Johnson and Ashley (Dana) Johnson; sister, Kimberly (Dereck) Dillow; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10am until the 12pm funeral service Friday, May 20, 2022, at Bayview Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Joe Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellow's Cemetery.
