Christopher (Chris) Wayne Slade

Christopher (Chris) Wayne Slade, a resident of Irvington, Alabama, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, after a three year long battle with cancer. Chris was 47 years old.

Chris enjoyed many things such as: tumbling rocks and cracking geodes, finding a good bargain, and appreciating the wonders in nature; but nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family and friends. Chris was quick to help when needed but rarely asked for help himself. You always knew where you stood with Chris, but he never held a grudge. He had a rare ability to forgive and let things go.

Chris was a hard worker who always put his family first. He had so much love for his family, and the friends that became family, but he had a special love for the children. He always took the time to talk to them and ask about their interests. Chris had two children by blood but many many more by love.

Anyone lucky enough to call Chris a friend knows how rare it is to find someone as loyal, easy going and fun as he was. As Chris would say: It is what it is, don’t be sad for him, remember the good times and raise a glass for him when you think of him.

Chris is preceded in death by his father, Charles Slade Sr.; and brother, Charles (Chuck) Slade, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Robin Slade; daughters, Dena Slade and Kayla Slade; mother, Julia Garland (Kevin); step-mom, Cindy Slade; sisters, Lee Ann Tomlin (Tommy) and Lynn Sims; step-siblings, Jennifer Dillon (Kenneth), Laurie Slade, and Stephen Morie (Phaedra); sister-in-law, Jennifer Slade; numerous nieces and nephews; a very large extended family; and an uncountable number of friends.

Celebration of life will be held from 1:00pm to 2:30pm Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Mobile Funeral Home and Crematory.
