Cindy Jarrard Sweet passed away on September 17, 2025, at her home surrounded by her sons and dear friends. Cindy was a native of DeLand, Florida, and a resident of Mobile for over 50 years.
She served as organist for 32 years at Providence Baptist Church, where her late father was Pastor. She served as a backup organist for her late Mother for funerals at Belmany Funeral Home. For the past 25 years, she was known to some as the “Gumball Lady.” Cindy owned several gumball machines in Mobile and Baldwin County with part of the proceeds being donated to Feeding the Gulf Coast.
She was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for the past 16 years.
As a servant for Jesus Christ, she spread the love of Jesus to everyone she encountered and even as she was under hospice care.
Cindy loved her family and friends. She is previously deceased by her late husband, Clyde Sweet, her parents, Rev. and Mrs Wayne ( Louise ) Jarrard, and her brother, Alan Jarrard.
Cindy is survived by her loving sons, Daniel Leonard of Mobile and Dennis Leonard ( Michele) of Silverhill and Step Daughter, Christy Huffman of Alba, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Natalie Leonard of Mobile, and Nathan Leonard of Bay Minette and many nephews and nieces.
She also leaves behind her dear friends, Merle Brown, Margaret Howze, Darlene Goodman.
The family give Our Thanks to Tammy Huffman, the nurses of Saad's Hospice, and the sitters who took care of Mrs. Sweet needs daily.
Funeral will be September 27, 2025, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 6905 Nan Gray Davis Rd. Theodore, Alabama. The Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by the funeral at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Bus Ministry In Memory of Cindy Sweet, 6905 Nan Gray Davis Road, Theodore, Alabama 36582.
Officiating is Rev. Kurt Copeland (Pastor, Lighthouse Baptist Church ) and Rev. Trey Doyle (Pastor, First Baptist Church of Mobile.)
Pallbearers include Joel Bowman, Stephen Daughtery, Timothy Daughtery, Nathan Leonard, Chris McQuigg and Clay Scofield.
Cindy will be buried at a later date next to her husband, Clyde, at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
