Demetrice L. Carter, Sr.

Affectionately known as “Billy Boy”

Sunrise – June 18, 1975

Sunset – May 25, 2023

On June 19, 1975, the world was blessed with the birth of Demetrice L. Carter, Sr. in Mobile, Alabama, to Louis Coaxum ll and Elizabeth Carter Ford. He departed this earthly life and gained his wings on Wednesday, May 25, 2023.

Meachy was the sweetest and most loving person you could have ever known. He was always extending a helping hand where it was needed with no questions asked. He motivated everyone around him. Being sad was not an option. His favorite saying was, “Stop that cryin’ and drop that iron.” Meachy lived with no worries, and if he did, he never let you see him sweat. Also known as “Billy Boy”, he didn’t sugarcoat with anyone. If he wanted to set you straight, he did.

Meachy is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Coaxum II and Elizabeth Carter Ford; aunt, Amanda Jackson; mother-in-law, Cinterrithia Curtis; brother-in-law, Kendrix Curtis; maternal grandmother, Vida Martin; and uncle, Roosevelt Jackson.

Meachy leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Jamaica Carter; two devoted sons, Demetrice L. Carter, Jr. (Shadie Shepard), and Skyler Moore, both of Mobile, AL; two devoted daughters, Tyler Radcliffe (Mario) of Phoenix, AZ, and Jamyler Reese of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren, D’Cota, Demetrice III, Cario, Kash, D’Anthonry, Zalyah, and Zamyia; three sisters, Ashley Ford and Tiquania Clark (Kylentus), both of Atlanta, GA, and Kan’eki Ford of Mobile, AL; two brothers, Louis Coaxum III (Sharon) and Jarrod Coaxum (Shannon); brother-in-law, Jermaine Curtis (Lateassha); sister-in-law, Simone Williams (Kenny); devoted uncle, Theodore Jackson; devoted aunt, Patricia David; father-in-law, Talmadge McCrear; stepfather, Carl Jones; stepmother, Joslyn Coaxum; devoted cousins, Re-Re Carter (Jay), Tomekia Carter (Mario), Carlos James, Shuwanda Davis, Deron Jackson, Derrick Jackson, and Cheryl Carter (Mario); devoted friends, Andre Wright, Shane Reed, Darninsky Brown, Rahmon Christian, Edwin Butler, and Gotti; godbrothers, Henry Scott (Myra), Tamitha Irby, Derik Grant, and Ron Smith; devoted nieces, Tierney Ford, Kendall Clark, and Angel Curtis; devoted nephew, Andre Wright, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
