Genise Boyette Johnson

Genise Boyette Calloway Johnson, born December 24, 1945 passed away on August 16, 2023. She was 77 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Mae Boyette, her brothers, John Boyette, Jr. and Randy Boyette, her sister, Peggie Mae Black, and husband, Garland "G" Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Paul) LePiane, Dawn (Mike) Alfonsi, Shannon (Danny) Shaw, Kimberly (Charles) Overton; grandchildren, Patric LePiane (Max Stockton), Nikki Alfonsi, Ryan Shaw (Dylan Sessions), Chance Shaw (Jeremy Culver), Kathy Shaw (Lars Briscoe), and Ian (Madelynn) Shaw; great grandchildren, Michael Briscoe; brothers, Sam (Peggy) Boyette and Alex Boyette, dear friends, Ava Perry and Wanda Sands and her Redemption Church family, Deacons and Pastors. Genise delighted in her girls and being "Momma" for them and their friends. She was a wonderful mother, and an even better Nanna for her grandchildren. After raising her daughters, Genise went back to school at Bishop State Community College. She relished her time there and was especially fond of the art courses she took. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She was often known to begin decorating as early as July or August. She loved Christmas cards and made sure everyone who was special to her had one each year. She was a 30 year member of Redemption Church (formerly First Baptist Church North Mobile) in Saraland, AL where she was part of the choir for many years. She was active with her church group and served the community by ministering to the Prichard Police Department. She loved serving, especially through meals and treats for the officers. Genise was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Friends and Family are invited to join us on Saturday, September 16, 2023, starting at 9:30 am. The service will start at 10:00 am and will be held at Redemption Church in Saraland. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Redemption Church’s outreach ministry in Genise Johnson’s name.
