Obituary

Giselle Susan "Gigi" Gunderson Schambers, born on July 18, 1958 in Germany, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 in Grand Bay, AL. She was a proud Army Veteran and served 10+ years in the Sherrif's Offices as a Dispatcher. Gigi was a shining light to everyone she knew and loved. So many people thought of her as a second Mom or an extra Grandma. Everyone always knew her door was open, day or night for if you needed a hot meal, a place to crash or just someone to talk to. From her years as a Band Mom to her years with the Sherrif's Department, and even at the very end, she was always there for anyone who needed her. She will be missed by so many.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Romana Gunderson, husband, Kent Schambers and son in law, Samuel Lee. She is survived by her daughters, Sonja (Chase) Bell and Samantha Lee, bonus children, Yunius (JR) San-Nicolas, James (So Yong Yu) Schambers, David (Krystal) Derwin and many many more. Grand children, Hannah (Matthew Reiss) Derwin, Annie (Hunter) Gardner, Aurora Derwin, David Derwin, Jr., John Lee, Danny Crabtree, Alva Crabtree, Wyatt Bell, Michael Bell, Celina Crosswhite, Maddison Derwin, Caleb Derwin, Nikko San-Nicolas, Kaiden San-Nicolas, and many more bonus grandchildren. Great granddaughter, Gloria Rose Derwin, siblings, Tommy (Tara) Gunderson, John "Chip" (Sue) Gunderson, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and more friends than one can count. In honor of her memory and wishes her daughters will have a Party/BBQ at a later date.
