Larry Emanuel Peters Obituary
Larry Emanuel Peters Sr., born on January 22, 1954 on Dauphin Island, Alabama, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on December 21, 2025. A true island man at heart, Larry spent his entire life as an oysterman, working the waters he loved- raking oysters, providing for his family, and living a life rooted in hard work and tradition.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doody Emanuel Peters and Jeanette (Wescovich) Peters; his siblings Christine Peters, James Alba Peters, Carl Edward Peters, Tina (Peters) Nelson, and Betty (Peters) Smith; and his grandchildren Brendon Quinn, Bryleigh Peters, Eliza Peters, & Dawson Peters whom he is now joyfully reunited with in Heaven.
Larry is survived by his beautiful wife of 49 years- Myra Sue Peters, their children Denise (Peters) Dickens (Joseph), Larry Peters (Allison), Robert (Annie) Peters, Ruby Peters, Tommy Peters (Maria), Ruth Peters (Adam), and Stan Peters (Katelyn), along with 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and his siblings Holley (Peters) Pollock (Robbie), Michael Peters (Phylis), Doody Peters, and David Peters (Dee).
Larry left a legacy that will live on for generations. He raised his family to know the value of hard work, responsibility, and sticking together. Anyone who knew him knew he was a great man with a quick wit and a way of making people laugh. His stories and presence filled a room, and his absence will be deeply felt.
While our hearts grieve his passing, we take comfort in knowing Larry has gone home to be with Jesus. He has laid down his earthly body and been made new, now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. We hold tightly to the promise that this goodbye is not forever.
