Celebrating the Life of Marisa Dinkins Garmon

On February 4, 2023, Marisa Dinkins Garmon passed away peacefully. She was 55 years old.

Marisa was a resident of Mobile, AL and was well-loved by members of her community. Marisa was the mother of four children. However, many people considered Marisa their bonus mom.

Marisa always made time for her family and friends. She always provided support and love to her family. She and her husband, Michael worked tirelessly to provide the best opportunities for their children. She would proudly boast about her children and grandchildren. Marisa worked for Strickland Youth Center for nearly 20 years and served in many roles. She was truly a servant leader who sought ways to help others. 

Marisa was preceded in death by her son, Michael Anthony Garmon, Jr; parents, Ester and Bonnie Dinkins; and mother-in-law, Nellie “Madea” Garmon. 

Marisa is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Michael Garmon, Sr.; daughters, Megan Dinkins, Krystal Dinkins, and Kandace (Milton) Shinn; grandson, Santana Agnew; granddaughters, Olivia Walker and Summer Taylor; sisters, Kimberly Dinkins, Chernava Dinkins, Nicole (Norman) Rollo, Barbara (James) Whitted, Glen Dinkins, and Cheryl Dinkins; brothers, Gregory (Shelia) Dinkins, Ernest Dinkins, Sam (Patricia) Dinkins, Alfa Dinkins, and Leon Dinkins; sisters-in-law, Linda Garmon, Audrey (Cleveland) Robinson, Marva Garmon, Irish (Willis) Carter, and Sharon Garmon; brothers-in-law, Christopher (Menia) Garmon and Nicholas (Anitra) Garmon; father-in-law, Clifton Garmon, Jr.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great aunt, great nieces, great nephews, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am celebration of life Monday, February 13, 2023, at Moffett Road Baptist Church, 5555 Moffett Road, Mobile, Alabama, 36618.
