Patricia Mernick Parenteau

Patricia Mernick Parenteau, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024 in Fairhope, AL, surrounded by her three children.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 60 years, William (Bill) L. Parenteau, her parents George Mernick Sr. and Eva (Simmons) Mernick, her brothers George H. Mernick and Frederick J. Mernick, and her son in-law Richard Vernon Whittle. Mrs. Parenteau was a devout Christian and an active member of Creekwood Church of Christ in Mobile, AL. She had a servant’s heart which included serving Meals on Wheels through her church. Her passion was helping kids as she ran the Front Desk at Mobile Christian School for ten years. She also was an avid supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Mrs. Parenteau loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family will remember her for her caring nature, wonderful cooking, and love of life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Parenteau is survived by her children, Robert Scott Parenteau (Mary), Madison, MS; Barbara P. Whittle, Mobile, AL; and William L. Parenteau Jr. (Natalia), Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Eric J. Whittle (Andrea), Robert S. Parenteau Jr. (Lisa), Malerie L. Mejia (Herlin), Sara P. Sahler (Andy), Stephanie T. Parenteau, and Erin W. Moody (Michael), and seven great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters Barbara Heard and Alice Dooley. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Craig Dowden and his team at St. Joseph Hospice for their professional care and compassion provided during such a difficult time. Visitation will be Thursday April 25, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Creekwood Church of Christ, 1901 Schillinger Road, Mobile, Al.36695 Funeral services will follow at 11:am.
