Raleigh Lewis Chewning

Raleigh Lewis Chewning of Mobile, AL departed this life May 18, 2026.  Born December 18, 2004, in Elkins, WV, he was just 21 years old. Raleigh was employed by Hungry Howie’s as a delivery driver.  Outside of work, he loved spending time with his mom, Christina Chewning, sister Melissa Bonner, and niece Rachel Harlan (all of Mobile, AL).  He was a devoted uncle enjoying gaming, 3D printing, board games and playing outdoors with his niece.  Musical by nature, Raleigh could play the ukulele and organ and loved singing karaoke with his sister, Hannah Bonner, of Elkins, WV. He took solace in nature, frequenting local trails and parks often accompanied by his mom and faithful dog, Dessie.  Late nights were spent working puzzles and binge watching shows at home with his mom.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lynn Chewning, Sr. of Belington, WV.  In addition to the aforementioned family members, he leaves behind two siblings, Robert Lynn Chewning Jr. and Mandy Chewning Maynard (husband Tommy) of Elkins, WV as well as two nieces, a nephew, and many extended family members.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Chapel Mobile with a fellowship meal to follow at Cody Road Seventh Day Adventist Church.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Synergy Autism Resource Center, 6333 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36693 or give online to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
