Richard Wayne Meyer

Richard "Wayne" Meyer, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, passed away on August 29, 2026, after a brief illness. Wayne attended St. Mary's Catholic School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He attended McGill Institute and thereafter continued his formal education at the University of South Alabama, receiving an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Tracy Meyer and Ida Louise Brannon Meyer, his brothers, William Meyer, Charles Meyer, and infant "Baby" Meyer.

Wayne was an avid car enthusiast, which let to a career spanning more than forty-five years with various companies as a rental and fleet manager for local and national companies. His love for movies, as well as countless characters therein, created a wealth of knowledge that was unequaled. Wayne and fellow self-proclaimed movie critics enjoyed sharing their love of various films at some of his favorite watering holes, including Judy's Place, Butch Cassidy's, Heroes, and The Garage, to name a few. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11:30 am from St. Mary's Catholic Church with visitation from 11 am until service time. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic School Annual Fund, 107 N. Lafayette St. Mobile, AL 36604
