Royce Earl Brown, Jr., known to most as "Shorty", was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He was born on May 12, 1972 and taken much too soon on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Shorty is survived by his devoted wife, Stacy, who was his partner in life adventures and best friend for over 26 years. He is also survived by his children, Randall Erik Brown, Brittany Brown Bexley, brother, Raymond Brown, sister, Rebecca Kirkland, mother, Peggy Brown, 4 grandchildren, his beloved rescue dog Sally, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

Shorty is preceded in death by his father, Royce Earl Brown, Sr.

Shorty worked construction most of his adult life, from pipe helper to piping superintendent. He loved learning how things worked and finding ways to make it better. His passion was woodworking and building things with his own hands, just to prove he could. He enjoyed fishing, mostly because he loved the water. He always said there is nothing in life a day at the beach couldn't cure, or at least make better. 

Shorty wasn't crazy about big "to-dos", be preferred small, simple, and meaningful, so there will be a memorial service for him on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2 pm from the chapel of Mobile Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation from 1 pm until service time. 

Shorty will be laid to rest at a private family ceremony.
