Rubie Mae Jones Ruffin

Rubie Mae Jones Ruffin, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away June 16, 2022 under the care of Saad Hospice of Mobile, Alabama.

Rubie is preceded in death by her husband, Lafayette Ruffin; parents, Grady and Rosa Mae Jones; sister, Betty Marlowe; and brothers, Harvey Jones and Chester Jones.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Julia Rosanne Ruffin Junkins; son, Mark Anderson Ruffin (Christy); and her grandchildren, John Thomas (Jake) Junkins IV, Amelia Hope Junkins, Hayden Anderson Ruffin, and Garrett Joseph Ruffin.

Mrs. Ruffin was born in Northport, Alabama.  She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and then went on to Shelton State where she received an LPN degree. Rubie worked many years at the Student Health Center at the University of Alabama. After she retired, she worked side by side with her husband in their landscaping business. When they were not beautifying churches and private residences, they loved to travel and would often leave with no idea where they would end up. She adored her husband and often talked of when she would see him again.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church Lafayette Ruffin Memorial Rose Fund. The family would also like to thank Saad Hospice of Mobile for their loving and devoted care.

Services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.at First Presbyterian Church in the Rose Garden named for her beloved Lafayette. Reverend Michael Bailey will be officiating. Visitation will be following the service at the church.
