Shirley A. (Smith) Scott

Shirley A. (Smith) Scott, age 74, of Semmes, Alabama, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 7, 2022. She was born in Putnam, Connecticut, on November 30, 1947 to the late Kenneth and Francis (Goss) Smith. Shirley loved family get-togethers, her parakeet (DJ), crocheting and music. She worked at Nobrega’s Discount House in Cambridge, MA for over 10 years, and then as a cashier at Beit Bros. in Dayville, CT for several years before she retired and moved to Florida to be closer to her late sister. Shirley is survived by her son, Brian Bowen of Rhode Island; daughter, Teri Perez-Kowalczyk and son-in-law, Robert Kowalczyk Jr. of Alabama; her granddaughters, Sandra Perez, Destiny Dejesus of Texas, and Fatima Ines Marques of Oklahoma; as well as two great grandchildren, Lilyana Perez and Bos’ton Stallin. She was preceded by her daughter, Sandra Bowen; her brother, Philippe F. Roy; and sister, Karen L. (Smith) Ehlert. In addition, she held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews. We will remember her lovingly in our hearts. A private service will be held in late July in Connecticut.
