Thomas Joseph Hartmann

Thomas Joseph Hartmann, age 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 1, 2021.He was a native of Brooklyn, New York before moving south to Mobile, Alabama where he attended SpringHill College and met the lifelong love of his life, Susie.  Tom was a supportive husband to Susie and a proud and involved father of four children.  The weekends meant family time, driving children to events, playing at the park, cooking breakfast, attending church services, and watching the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame faceoff against their competitors. If you ask anyone that has crossed paths with Tom what type of a person he was, you will receive words such as: kind, loving, jokester, and the like.  He was all of those words, and so much more.  When he made a commitment, Tom worked tirelessly to fulfill it.  He instilled the characteristics of tenacity and perseverance in his children and gave them the competitive drive they needed for any situation.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Henry Burrus Hartmann, and his mother, Kathryn Hanney Hartmann.  Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Susie Hartmann; his 4 children, Colleen Suzanne Hartmann, Charles Burrus Hartmann, Allyson Hartmann Chappell, and Molly Hartmann Rylee; his 9 grandchildren, Brantley, Courtney, Peter, Katelyn, Kenneth, Madisyn, Cadence, Emmalyn, and Addalyn; and his great-granddaughter, Ava.

Tom’s life will be honored in a memorial service Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Pathway Church Airport Campus, 10775 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608. Family and friends visit 1-2 P.M. Memorial service at 2 PM.
