Wilfredo Morales Obituary

Wilfredo “Fred” Caballero Morales, 68, resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away Friday, January 7, 2022. Fred was born in Los Cabezos of Boquete, Panama and entered the states as a young child. He spent much of his youth in Biloxi, Mississippi working off shore on oil rigs until he discovered his love for plants and became the Landscape Supervisor for the Parks, Recreational and Cultural Affairs division of the City of Biloxi. During that time he worked to become designated as the City of Biloxi Arborist.

Fred moved to Mobile, Alabama in the early 90’s and spent time employed at Mobile College, Mobile Botanical Gardens, and Bellingraph Gardens. Fred’s greatest hobby was bonsai and his style and techniques are known throughout the southeast where he traveled to teach workshops and participate in various shows such as the Festival of Flowers and Epcot’s Bonsai display at the Japan Pavilion. He was a member of the Azalea City Bonsai Society for many years and was a founding member of the Gulf Coast Koi Society. As his love for Tropical Bonsai grew so did his love for Koi and Japanese style gardens. He later started the business Solitude Ponds and Landscape, where he designed, installed and landscaped Koi ponds. Fred was hard working and generous. He loved spending time with Jesus, nature and his family. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed. Te amare` por siempre.

Fred is preceded in death by his sister, Melinda Morales Graham, brother, Humberto Morales and granddaughter, Sadie.

Those left to cherish his memory are spouse, Laura Seiler,  mother, Emilia Mock (Bill), brother, Jaime Morales, four children, Emma Morales Taylor, Corey Morales (Linh), Bryan Morales (Mary), Marie Morales Bartle (Eric), the children's Mother, Diane Hood Morales,  nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Deanna, Amelia, Emilee, Bryce, Cole, Jacob, Nicholas and Oliver, nieces and nephews, Carlos Morales (Anike), Samantha Graham Mickel (Frank), Brittany Graham Kergosien (Marc), Matthew Graham (Sanna Maria), twelve great nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets, Yoshishi, Toby and Yasmine.
