Willa Jo Carter, age 90 of Mobile, AL passed away on April 4, 2025 at her home that she loved.
Born on January 10, 1935 in Winston County, AL, Jo Carter was ferosiously independent. She loved the Bible and taught Sunday school, the business women's Bible study and numerous others for over 66 years, making a name for herself here in Mobile. Later in life she enjoyed sitting and caring for elderly people. She was passionate about reading the Bible and Christian books. She loved walking in the yard caring for her flowers and garden. Most of all, she had an unwavering faith in God.
Willa Jo Carter is survived by her two daughters, Michele Gonealez (Dr. Richard) of Chicago, IL, Tawnya Carter of Foley, AL, 4 grandchildren, Chasity, Tosha (Jason) Joshua, Dalton, 3 great grandchildren, Giavonna (Timmathy) Angelina, Ashton, 3 great-great grandchildren, Bentley, Deacon, Luca, 2 sisters, Carol Echols, Cathy Williamson, one brother, Teddy Privett, multiple nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Harvel Carter, 2 brothers, Finis and Freddy, one sister, Marcie and her beloved parents, Espy and Nettie Privett.
To honor her wishes the immediate family will hold a graveside service. In lieu of flowers please donate to Samaritan's Purse or the Billy Graham Assoc.
