Yvonne Cropp Bates

Yvonne Cropp Bates, 78, was called home on June 09, 2021. Yvonne, a lifelong resident of Grand Bay, AL, was a retired kindergarten teacher who operated Hansel & Gretel Kindergarten.  Yvonne also spent many years involved with the First Baptist Church Hostess Committee.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; father, Lawrence Cropp; mother, Jackie Cropp; and brother, Ernest Cropp.  She is survived by her children, Cullon Bates (Robin), Michael Bates (Wina), and Ray Bates; grandchildren, Katie Harville (Anthony), Lindsey Bates, Joy White (Johnny), Dakota Thornton (Edward), and Hunter Bates; great grandchildren, Tyler Driskell, Gabe White, Sage Driskell, and Ezra Thornton; sister, Earline Hughes; sisters-in-law, Kathy Long (Dave) and Jetta Cropp; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and nieto de corazon Lauro Godoy.

Born in Escatawpa, MS, Yvonne grew up in Chickasaw, AL, spending 58+ years in Grand Bay, AL.  She graduated from Vigor High School Class of 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Cecil.  Together, they spent their married life within the Grand Bay community.  She was active in her church and enjoyed quilting with special friends.

Yvonne never met a stranger and offered assistance to any one in need.  She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.  She loved her family, friends, and church family beyond measure.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Mobile Funeral Home and Crematory from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
